You don't deserve this

It was a little past 3am and inside the sterile white hospital room was silent. Outside of the beeping from the IV drip machine and glow from the wall mounted TV, you could hear a pin drop. Former HVW Territory Champion Vera Vega laid peacefully in the hospital bed. Her eyes were closed as the arm that was getting the IV drip was placed at her side.
On the left of the bed sat Jace Parker Davidson in a chair that was pushed against the wall. He was leaned over with his elbows resting on his knees. His hands were clasped together and supported his head that rested on top of them. The eyepatch over his right eye was only seen because of the light coming from the TV.
The man known as the Villain sat there quietly and nearly motionless. Sleep wasn't something he was interested in. Long after most visitors had gone home for evening, Davidson had insisted that he was not going to leave Vera's side. His left eye remained focused on her as she slept. Any move or twitch of her body would not go unnoticed.
As he sat there, he replayed the events that happened earlier in the night to cause them to be here right now. HVW's Outlaw Reckoning had reached the main event and Vera was challenging for the HVW World Heavyweight Championship belt against the current Champion… The Diamond Princess Danielle Page.
The very woman that led four other people down to the ring back at CWF Crossing Lines who beat down Davidson and cost him his match against Dangerous Dan.
The Villain's jaw was tight and he could feel his teeth grinding together as he thought about all the interference in that match. Every single muscle in his body tense as he relived the moment when he was interrupted coming to help Vera by the man that has been a thorn in his side… Dan Highlander.
Just thinking about the man made Jace's head want to explode from pure rage. Dan and Jace were never the best of friends. However, they had decided to put their differences aside to fight the common enemy known as Hostility. Only, when push came to shove, Dan would stop Davidson from 'going too far' against people that had no such morals.
Dan had stopped Jace from using a sledgehammer to cave in the skull of the current HVW Territory Champion Bianca Davis. Because of that… earlier tonight it was Bianca Davis who handed Danielle a weapon that turned out to be a taser. They used it to hurt Vera and that's why she's here in this hospital room.
Her shot at the HVW World Championship down the drain. The woman Jace was going to finish off weeks ago, but she lived to see another day thanks to Dan Highlander. And yet… he had the nerve to show his face and distract Davidson from helping Vera, from fighting off Hostility, and now… Vera has suffered because of it.
Davidson was beyond furious and there was a lot of blame to go around.
The door to the room opened quietly as one of the night shift nurses entered the room. She looks down at Jace and begins to whisper.
Nurse: Are you okay? It's late and I can't imagine you've gotten much sleep in that chair.
Jace Parker Davidson: I'm fine.
The nurse could tell that was a lie. He said it without even looking at her.
Nurse: Is there anything that I can get you? A pillow or blanket? We have microwavable meals if you haven't eaten anything. I can get you something to drink.
She offered politely.
Jace Parker Davidson: I'm… fine.
The nurse took the hint and exited the room after checking on Vera. It was true. Davidson hadn't eaten or slept for hours. None of that interested him. He was going to stay by Vera's side and he was far too busy planning out the people he needed to hurt severely for what had happened.
The Origin Wrestling Academy
Denver, Colorado
Monday, October 26th, 2026
It was late Monday evening and the academy was pretty much empty. All the trainees had finished up for the day. Most of them were in a somber mood after seeing what happened to Vera at Outlaw's Reckoning. The place just wasn't the same without her cheerful attitude and boundless energy around.
A loud thumping sound could be heard off in the distance. Back in an isolated corner of the academy, a figure was hitting a heavy bag that hung from the ceiling by a chain. Two days after what happened at Outlaw's Reckoning and Jace Parker Davidson was still fuming. Vera has been discharged from the hospital and has taken over his bedroom.
She was milking the injury without a doubt, however, the fact that he could see the hurt and the sadness she was trying to hide behind the playfulness just added fuel to the inferno that was already raging inside of him.
Griffin had come over to spend time with Vera, so that meant Jace had the chance to slip away and vent some of the anger that was bottled up inside of him. He pelted the bag with a flurry of punches, putting more power behind each punch. The bag quivered and shook from the repeated impact of the punches.
Here, alone in the academy, he could let the mask slip without worry. In front of Vera he refused to show just how pissed off he was. In his head he was plotting ripping several individuals limb from limb. Its just that he refused to let his growing hatred further drag down her own mood. The thumping got louder and faster. Davidson was punching the bag with everything he had. Sweat dripped down his face as he tried to punch the bag clear off of the chain it hung from. The Villain reared back and hit the bag as hard as he possibly could with the last bit of strength he could muster.
The bag swung hard, but remained attached to the chain. Davidson reached out and grabbed hold of the back with both hands. He buried his face into the bag and let out a scream of bloody murder out of sheer frustration.
The Villain gripped the bag for a few moments and just stood there catching his breath. Eventually, he let go of the bag and grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat from his face. His hands were sore and his knuckles ached. That was nothing compared to the pain he planned to make those responsible feel.
He walked through the academy, grabbing a bottle of water along the way, before he made his way over to where one of the training rings were at. Davidson took a seat on the ring apron and took a drink of water as he pulled out his phone. He thumbed over the screen for a moment before seemingly remembering something. Davidson decided to open his camera app and start recording as he held the phone in his hand.
Jace Parker Davidson: Dan Highlander.
Saying the name out loud still left a bad taste in his mouth. He stayed silent for a moment while looking off into the distance.
Jace Parker Davidson: Tomorrow night… the main event of Nightmare Protocol. I get to step into the ring against you. The first time we faced off? That was just a bit of a showcase. Two Champions doing battle with neither of their titles on the line.
He paused to take another drink of water.
Jace Parker Davidson: I gave you a run for your money that night, but in the end you ended up winning that match. Fair enough, but tomorrow night? It's going to be so much more than a fucking showcase. Neither of us holds a title yet there is so much more at stake this time.
He turned his head back toward the screen.
Jace Parker Davidson: Trust and believe that I hold you just as accountable for what happened to Vera on Saturday night as I do the people that hurt her.
The words came out short and filled with malice.
Jace Parker Davidson: After I put you down… I still have to wait to get my hands on Hostility because I'm booked in another match in CWF.
He let out a sigh.
Jace Parker Davidson: Devil's night.. October 30th. I step into the ring against someone from the CWF roster. I believe his name is like Paul Freedom or something like that?
You could just hear the uncertainty in his voice. He shook his head slowly.
Jace Parker Davidson: Sorry, but after what happened this weekend. Correction… after what has been happening for a while now… I'm not exactly interested in getting your name right. I get that you're probably a big deal in CWF and I think you're a Champion there. Cool, good for you.
He shrugged his shoulders.
Jace Parker Davidson: I'm sure you're quite proud of yourself and you honestly should be. I'll be honest with you… I don't give a fuck about your title. I don't give a rat's ass about what you've done and accomplished in CWF. You could be the nicest guy in the world or the best wrestler that CWF has to offer. None of it will mean a fucking thing on October 30th.
He ran his free hand through his long hair.
Jace Parker Davidson: That sounds harsh, but it's the truth. I don't expect you to agree or understand. In a normal circumstance… I would have sat back and did my homework about you. Studied some footage of your matches and found every little thing I possibly could to find out what makes you tick. The reality is that as far as investigating you and your career? I've done fuck all.
He lets out a humorless chuckle.
Jace Parker Davidson: Let me ask you… Have you ever been in a situation where you got caught off guard by something completely out of left field? I'm not talking about an attack or the outcome of a ball game. I'm talking about being in the same room with someone you had no intention of ever speaking to and then you blink and suddenly you feel attached?
His free hand fumbles around as he tries to explain.
Jace Parker Davidson: I'm called the Villain because people know I can be a cold hearted bastard at the flip of a switch. That's how I've always been. It's part of the reason why I've been so good at this sport over the years. There I am just doing my thing and this person just flies into my life with her nonsense.
The heel of his boot bangs against the ring apron steadily.
Jace Parker Davidson: She's a little annoying, has her head in the clouds, and talks a fucking lot. Yet, it starts to become familiar. It goes from being irritating to being a welcome occurrence in your every day routine. Before you even fucking now it… this complete stranger just walked into your life… your space and took it over. You start to care…you hold a spot for this person in your…
His voice trails off as if the word gets caught in his throat.
Jace Parker Davidson: I haven't even fucking said the word out loud, especially in front of her. Regardless… every time she comes around the day just gets better. You find yourself wanting to see her smile. Without a logical reason I found myself showing up when she was wrestling. If she was in trouble… my body would move to her rescue without even thinking. I would fight an army single handedly for her. She began a strength and a weakness all at the same time. And then they hurt her.
His jaw went rigid.
Jace Parker Davidson: Hostility. The same people that decided to show up in my CWF debut and cost me the match against Dangerous Dan. They screwed her out of her title match and then used a taser on her. I blame them…I blame Dan Highlander… and myself. There is a ball of rage inside of me that won't go away.
He places his free hand over his chest.
Jace Parker Davidson: Sincerely… I'm sorry. It's not easy for me to say that to anyone, but I am sorry for what will happen on the 30th. I'm not coming to wrestle you. I'm coming to use you as an outlet for this rage. You're a Champion, a human being, and someone that probably has friends and loved ones of your own. Sadly, Hostility killed off the last bit of empathy I had left.
His tone was stern as he gripped the phone tighter.
Jace Parker Davidson: I'm not worried about a win. I'm not looking to gain myself a shot at your title. You're just someone I get to hurt. You're going to be an outlet for his hatred that is boiling in my veins. I would tell you that you'd be better off just not showing up for this match, but you won't do that. I really hope you do… I need someone to feel just half the pain I am feeling. I need an example to show to Dan Highlander after I beat him tomorrow night. I want to show him that this is what will happen if he stands in my way ever again.
His free hand formed into a fist.
Jace Parker Davidson: Whatever happens on the 30th… you don't deserve it. You're not at fault here, but you are here. You will be standing in front of me and I won't hold back just because you're innocent. Hug your loved ones… enjoy the next few days because once that bell rings… you might have yourself being fed through a tube when I'm done with you.
Davidson pressed the stop button on the recording and placed his phone down on the ring apron. He finished off the last of the water before pulling himself up to his feet. In less than 24 hours… The first domino will face when he steps into the ring against Dan Highlander. Next will be Paul Freedom… until finally he gets his hands on Danielle Page.
Until then… There is still time to find something else to punch.
