Ozric Mortimer

The arena lights die completely as an old-fashioned calliope melody begins playing somewhere in the distance. No entrance video appears. No spotlight reveals his location. Instead, red balloons slowly emerge throughout the crowd while a dense white fog crawls across the entranceway and beneath the ring itself.

As the music grows louder, audience members begin nervously looking over their shoulders. Then Ozric Mortimer appears.

Dressed in a black Victorian funeral coat with cracked porcelain clown makeup stretched across his face, Mortimer slowly walks toward the ring without acknowledging the audience. His expression never changes. His eyes never blink. He simply drifts through the fog as if he has always been there.

Upon entering the ring, Ozric climbs through the ropes and stands motionless in the center while the fog swirls around his boots. The music abruptly stops. Silence follows.

Then a single clown horn echoes throughout the arena.
